Trujillo

TRUJILLO

Trujillo was the last stop on our tour of Extremadura.  We hadn't planned on stopping here, but decided at the end that we had time for a quick visit.  I'm so happy that we did.  It was absolutely delightful. It has the same Roman history as the others, and again, was dripping with charm.  The Plaza Mayor was a spectacular sight with a wide range of architecture and appeal.  The church was dominate in the plaza.

Of course, there was the town Belen.

It is never hard to find a short door for Greg to pose by.  I'm telling you
that Spain and Portugal are Munchkin land.

Inside the church was another Belen.

And a castle.  Spain is littered with castles, and I love them.

Another church.

This room is above the knave.

I believe the priest used to live here.

The view from the tower of the church.
View from the church tower.

It was a hard climb up the tower, but even harder coming down.
We started up the winding narrow road to the castle.

The chapel inside the tower of the castle.

The bullring.

Heading down the hill.

Trujillo gets a 10 from us.  Another great plus for our visit of this small city is, we stumbled across a private home that had opened its doors to the public.  Inside was the most amazing Belen we had seen.  It was so great that I have made a separate blog for it.  Our tour of Extremadura was just fabulous.  We have not been to an area yet that we did not love, but Extremadura is very special.
